A revised calendar for the Jackson County School System will give more planning days for teachers, while still keeping students in the classroom for the same number of days during the school year.
The Jackson County Board of Education approved a revised calendar on Monday that had been recommended by the school system’s teachers advisory committee.
The revised calendar includes one day in October now as a teacher planning day (student holiday), while removing one day in December that was part of winter break and will now be a regular school day for teachers and students.
The other days on the revised calendars were those that students were already scheduled to be out of the classroom under the previous calendar.
