Fifth and eighth graders in all three Jackson County school systems were mostly in the upper third of overall state results on the 2011 CRCT tests.
System results were released by the state last week and individual school results will be released next month.
On a system basis, the Jefferson Elementary School Fifth Grade was the top system in the state in English/Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. JES Fifth Graders were also in the top 10 school systems in Reading and Math.
The Jackson County School System Fifth Grade was also in the top 10 school systems in the state in Reading, English/Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.

Yes, it is a very nice change to see positive remarks in the local paper regarding our school system. I am proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and student body. It it an honor to say that I am a teacher in the JC system and that my own children are getting an excellent education within the Jackson County School System. I truly do not feel that one system in our county is superior to the other.
