An East Jackson Comprehensive High School teacher has alleged that school leaders falsified state FTE counts and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission has launched an investigation into EJCHS principal Pat Stueck over the matter.
In a letter to Superintendent Shannon Adams late last week, lawyers for the unnamed teacher demanded that the school “cease and desist in retaliating” against the teacher after she sent a letter to the GPSC on April 12.
The letter alleges that school leaders claimed students for FTE funding for classes they didn’t attend, for providing students with credit for classes they didn’t attend, for creating “fake rosters and schedules” to cover up those activities and for directing the complaining teacher to provide credit and grades for students when they had not attended class.
The letter from attorney Michael Daniel also demanded that the school system reassign his client to the position of Chairman of the Special Education Department or Coordinator of the Eagle Express Program and that she goes back to teaching Special Education Science next year. The letter alleges that the school had removed the teacher from those positions in retaliation for the April 12 letter to the GPSC.
The letter also makes an open records request for a series of documents from the Jackson County School System related to FTE counts and says the school system should not destroy such documents.
The accusing teacher’s name, along with the names of school officials who allegedly falsified the documents, was redacted in the copy given to Mainstreet Newspapers. However, a letter from the GPSC names Stueck as the target of a state investigation.
Jackson County School System superintendent and Stueck didn’t respond to an e-mail asking for comments about the allegations.
If you do the morally and legal right thing here, report, the county will intimidate you into silence and ruin your career.
I hope they don't get away with it this time.
I will likely be retaliated against just for posting this comment.
You are correct. It is.
graduating too many kids in eagle express. was let go with 2 weeks of school left.said teacher didn't have enough students.so fire him to save the system money huh? thats what he was told.i know there are taped conversations out there. they will surface soon. most employees at ej tape conversations with administration because they don't tell the truth. oh by the way he is now collecting unemployment and costing the system even more. what 22 weeks of unemployment paid with our tax dollar again. boy now that was a great decision.or was he let go because he new too much
You think its the time to make cuts at kids? Your probably the one who made such a big deal about the Jefferson incident. This is for legit concerns about faculty not about the athletes? & even at that why would you want to make cuts on highschool students? SMH.
1. When you sit down to play poker, you'd better know who you are playing with, what the game is and what the stakes are. If you don't you're in deep trouble when some one calls your bluff.
2. If you are going to run your organization through fear, intimidation and threats, it's only a matter of time before someone stands up to you. for their own protection, the protection of their family, and because it's the right thing to do.
3. finally, and there's no way around this one, if you haven't done anything wrong, there's nothing to worry about. The PSC doesn't investigate for the fun of it. there has to be some merit to these charges. if so, well, everyone remembers the saying about one bad apple, right?
As a teacher and knowing that the PSC determines my ability to teach in GA, I would report ANY requests by my superiors to falsify any student documentation ~ I am not going to jail for anyone and I am not losing my credentials for anyone else. Along the same avenue of thought it would probably be a "we'll look into it" type response with no further action if a 'disgruntled' teacher made attack allegations against his/her superiors.
I don't teach in JC, but my children all went to and graduated from EJCHS. I still remember holding multiple conversations with my children that they are to gain academic knowledge from staff, but never to learn values from them (as they have NO itegrity).
OMG, I haven't seen such a far reach since Pres. Clinton used the defense of "it depends on what your definition of 'is' is...."
"if there were any other source of local news..."
you're kidding, right?
obviously, you have access to a computer.
just stand up and have the cojones to say you don't like this news source because they wrote something bad (but true) about someone in your family or one of your friends.
and if you hate it so much, why are you on here blogging????
This storm has been brewing for some time, and those who truly know what's happening can tell you that this does indeed stem from one teacher in a position of authority holding a grudge about the way the coaching mess was handled. This whole thing is simply a power play by that one teacher and those disgraced coaches who apparently think they have more power than Stueck. Hey - they didn't call the ringleader of this group "Godfather" for nothing.
I guess we'll find out who is more powerful soon enough.
