JEFFERSON may be able to accommodate more visiting fans for football games as well as spectators for the annual Georgia Olympics.
Jefferson Schools Superintendent John Jackson said during the city board of education (BOE)’s facilities report Thursday that adding seating to the visitors’ side of Memorial Stadium is an option.
“One of the things that we talked about, in terms of a possibility, would be to look at the visitors’ seating at Memorial Stadium to see how many additional seats are needed and how many additional seats can be added,” Jackson said.
Jackson had a meeting this past Friday to meet with a construction vendor regarding the seating. The superintendent said that this was the same vendor that built the current visitors’ stands. A drainage system runs under the bleachers, but that shouldn’t stop the school from expanding the seating if it wants.
