Jackson EMC cleared the last of the outages related to last night’s storms by 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Minor damage was sustained with 18 outages that affected 447 customers. The largest of those occurred at 12:25 a.m. in Gwinnett County in the area of Beaver Ruin and Steve Reynolds Boulevard, impacting 390 customers. Power was restored shortly before 2 a.m.
While Jackson EMC’s service area escaped major damage, others were not so fortunate. This morning the cooperative dispatched four crews, totaling 26 men and 16 vehicles, to assist two other North Georgia electric cooperatives which sustained significant damage. Two crews were sent to aid Amicalola EMC, headquartered in Jasper, and two to Habersham EMC, headquartered in Clarkesville.
