The Arcade Planning Commission canceled a public hearing set for Tuesday night.
The commission didn’t have a quorum of its members attend the hearing set on a rezoning request and two variance applications for General Property Group, LLC. John Swaim, commission chairman, and John Motley, commission member were the only two members present along with Guy Herring, planning consultant with McFarland Dyer & Associates, Suwanne, and Deborah Mockus, city administrator.
The planning commission will hold a special called meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at Arcade City Hall, for the first public hearing on this request.

General Property Group, LLC is requesting to rezone a parcel of land on the south side of the Peace Place Thrift Store from C1 to C-1 with special use to allow for the construction of a 9,100 square foot retail building.
The group is seeking approval on the following variance applications also: a) waive the requirement for a natural buffer of 10 feet abutting AG zoning adjacent ot the property; and b) allow the builder to install unshielded wall pack lights on the exterior of the building.

O.h.my God say it ain't so? What kind of Commission are they running here? they say the public should come out to these meetings SO we will know what's going on? THEIR OWN PEOPLE WON'T EVEN SHOW UP. How are we supposed to take you serious when you can't even get your own members to show up?
