THE JEFFERSON School System plans to unveil new flooring in the elementary school classrooms at the start of next school year and is already prepping for the overhaul.
School leaders are currently accepting bids for the job, which calls for new floor tile in each room that still has old carpeting.
“That’s going to be a major undertaking, but that needs to be done,” superintendent John Jackson said.
Teachers at Jefferson Elementary School are already starting to pack-up their rooms in anticipation of the project, which will likely begin after post planning wraps-up.
The plan is to remove old carpet in the rooms, take up old tile underneath that carpet, painting the rooms and then lay the new floor title.
