Nicholson woman wins $500,000

A Nicholson woman is celebrating a jumbo Georgia Lottery win. Cassandra “Candy” Reynolds, 38, won $500,000 playing the instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks.

“I’m just absolutely shocked,” she said.

Sonny’s Express, located at 783 Ila Road in Commerce, sold the top prize ticket. Reynolds was with her husband, Reid, when she scratched the lucky ticket outside the store.

“We went back in the store and told them the news,” she said. “They were probably more excited than I was because it really hadn’t sunk in.”

A legal assistant and mother of two, Reynolds plans to pay bills and save for her children’s education.

“I’m definitely going to go on a vacation,” she added.
