The Jackson County Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) will start another nine-week training program on Thursday, April 21, at the Jackson County Fire Training Center, Jefferson.
All training and equipment is free. Classes are taught from 7-9:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The class size is limited to 25 students and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students will learn about disaster preparedness, first aid, CPR, basic search and rescue, basic fire suppression, disaster psychology, ICS/NIMS, traffic control and terrorism. A disaster simulation drill will follow at the end of training.
Volunteers must register by Monday, April 18. The classes are open to all Jackson County residents who are 18 and older.
