The Jefferson Board of Education is looking at the possibility of expanding some of its athletic facilities, including an expansion of its field house and other major renovations at Memorial Stadium.
During a facilities report at last week’s board meeting, the BOE discussed the need to expand the field house, a move that was postponed a few years ago.
That was one of several items discussed by the board about facilities issues at the stadium. The board also discussed renovating the concession stand and restrooms at the stadium, building a new press box and new visitor seating.
In addition to the stadium, the board discussed several other athletic and school facilities needs, including a weight or wrestling room at Jefferson Middle School; relocating three tennis courts at the middle school; upgrades to the softball fields; upgrading the gym at Jefferson Elementary School; and a variety of proposed upgrades to other school facilities.
No action was taken on any of the facilities needs which are projected to cost $2.3-$4 million.
