In the final two months of 2010, the former general surgeon at BJC Medical Center settled a dozen malpractice claims for nearly $4 million, according to state records.
Dr. Keith Ash, who resigned in 2008 and now operates Urgent Care of Banks Crossing, settled 12 cases in November and December in amounts ranging from $15,000 to $900,000, according to a web site operated by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners. The total amount of the settlements during that period was $3,931,500. Of that, $3,114,500 was settled Nov. 12 among nine claims.
The information was provided by Ash for the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
The web site also notes that Ash has received no malpractice court judgments, which indicates that no claims against him went to trial.
