The City of Jefferson moved forward Monday night in applying for a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for improvements to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The project would include four-foot sidewalks; drainage improvements, including curb and gutters; paving, widening and resurfacing; grading; and erosion control and grassing.
The total project cost would be $741,000. The city’s portion would be paid over a three-year period and would come from special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) revenue allocated for road projects.
