Jackson unemployment climbs in January to 10.8%
Jackson County unemployment rate climbed in January to 10.8 percent, up from 10.3 percent in December.
But the rate was below the January 2010 rate of 11.6 percent.
According to state data, 2,933 people were unemployed in Jackson County in January.

There are no jobs, so I had to move out of state to find work. I was looking as far as atlanta and all the way to hartwell and still no type of work could be found. I was forunate to find employment in the greenville / spartanburg sc area. So I had to give up my home, take my family away from what they knew. We have started over, but will not ever able to move back unless something major changes in the area so people can earn a living and have a home. Good luck to the rest of you, you may have to move too. Its not fun but heartbreaking.
