A NORTH Jackson home was damaged in a New Year’s Day fire and a resident received minor injuries.
The Plainview, North Jackson and Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments responded to 60 River Ridge Drive on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival of the first units, they found a two-story residential home, approximately 3,000 square feet, with fire showing from the second floor and attic. The fire was extinguished by units on the scene. The Commerce Fire Department was also called to the scene for water supply.
The residents were home at the time of the fire and one person reported a minor injury and was treated and released at the scene by Jackson County EMS.
The fire was ruled accidental by the Plainview Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office with the cause being listed as starting around a flue in the chimney area. The house sustained heavy damage to the second floor and attic area.
