Former JCCHS coach under investigation

The former girls softball coach at Jackson County Comprehensive High School is reportedly under investigation for having a possible “inappropriate” relationship with a student.

The coach, who was also a teacher at West Jackson Middle School, resigned Dec. 3.

Officials close to the situation confirmed to Mainstreet Newspapers that a criminal investigation had been undertaken in the matter. No charges have been filed.

School officials would only confirm that the softball coaching position was currently open.

It outrages and sickens me to know that not a single comment has been written in response to this article as compared to the B/S nonsense articles that were written to slander and oust Coach Frank Caputo from EJCHS. The fact is that the citizens of Jackson County, especially in the city of Jefferson, are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical, self-absorbed, immoral idiots.

This story sickens me also! The teacher involved had been fraternizing with her softball students for years! The inappropriate relationship started when the child was 14yrs. old and has been ongoing. Blame lies with the teacher and the parents! The parents should have known that it was wrong to allow this teacher to go on family vacations and get even closer to their daughter. If you ask me, this teacher should be charged! She's a PREDATOR!

The article states that this is an ongoing investigation. You have a lot of guts posting accusations on an open legal case. Accusations that show you are in the middle of the case. You are innocent until proven guilty. If she is proven innocent, her reputation is already destroyed by this case. You should search the internet for the case on Tonya Craft. She was a kindergarten teacher who was falsely accused and found NOT guilty. I hope that this teacher/coach that is under investigation can rise above the negativity!

Everyone has their own opinion but everyone in Jackson County knew this was true. Everyone saw them together & if the case has went as far as the State of Georgia then something is going to be done! She has lost her job and is no longer the Coach of the Jackson County Softball team. If she gets proven innocent, she will be one lucky person because everyone in Jackson County knows she is GUILTY!

Not only is this teacher by the way which was a wonderful teacher being accused of an inappropriate relationship with a student, by doing that you are also accusing this teacher of being a lesbian.Isn't this the real issue here Jackson Co, your inability to accept divirsity? This teacher's sexuality is none of any of you peoples business. My heart is bleeding for this teacher and her family, as I cannot imagine what this is like being persecuted and nailed to a cross by a bunch of hypocritical so called Christians who are actually ignorant, UNEVOLVED rednecks.

This has nothing to do with diversity or sexuality. It would be the same with if it was a male teacher and a female student. A case would be brought up. Like the Mr. White incident. Don't try to say that the only reason she is being accused is because they hate guys. And yes everyone know. The teacher favored that student all through out middle school. The student had 2 sepperate cell phones. The student was seen with the teacher. She may be innocent about somethings. Anyone that knew both of them could tell that there was some type of relationship.

What "everyone" in this county knows is one the people in this three ring circus making these accusations buys alcohol for her teenage daughter and her friends, and allows 21 year old males to spend the night at her house with her daughter! What all of you should be doing is sweeping around your own door before you sweep around someone else's. And if I were you I would start preparing for the day the JCSO knocks on your door and starts their investigation on you.

This teacher and this students family and their extended family have all been family friends for years. Favortism couldn't have been shown "all throughout" middle school, she only taught the student in 8th grade. All of these people are friends, it would be the same if this teacher and student were related it would appear as favortism because they were family. This is a small town, people are friends here, people know each other at some point paths cross, if you teach or coach here at some point you may teach or coach a friends child. So we are to put our guard up to the point of fear of being accused such as this? This is the most absurd thing I have evern heard, more than anything very sad for this teacher and her family.

Obviously from the negative comments NONE of you know this teacher/coach, if you did you would know this is NOT true! And to shed some light on the real issue at hand clearly we have a select group of bitter softball parents desperately seeking a reason their children didn't get the playing time they felt they deserved. In their desperate attempt apparently a SICK person has started this devastating rumor due to bitterness and jealousy that SICKENS me! This teacher/coach's entire identity was her reputation which was flawless prior to this malicious gossip. And the comment on blaming the parents and the teacher/coach no one is accusing this teacher/coach of anything there is not a victim or accuser. The accuser is a faceless lie spread by a person who has
repeatedly tried to contact this teacher/coach "out of concern" for her. But due to this reckless rumor Jackson County is wasting plenty of tax payer revenue to
investigate this nonsense because someone got more playing time than their
child. So this is what you teach your children to do in life? What you should be
teaching them how to cope with things like if they were playing ball in another
county perhaps they wouldn't even have made the team since making the team is ability based only! And to the clowns making fools of yourselves accusing
this teacher/coach and you "outraged citizen" (who hides your name) I can only
hope you find yourselves caught up in the middle of a ACLU suit. Coach you standup be strong you have so many people who believe in YOU.

You've got to be kidding me? "Standing up for the Truth" (who hides your real name) the ACLU is such a "smoke screen"! The ACLU defends the North American Man Boy Love Association saying that although the organization champions the criminal rape of children, it has a right to do under "free expression". The ACLU endorses virtual child pornography and has defended the right of people to obtain real child porn. Seriously? What about the ACLU opposing the minutemen protests at the border? Obviously, a legitimate form of expression. Hypocritical you think? This liberal based organization (ACLU) wants a different country, a nation where conduct IT approves of, public sex displays, child molestation literature is allowed. But the ACLU wants to inhibit conduct IT disagrees with, like protesting the border and celebrating the birth of Jesus! The ACLU is so far left anything goes. That's it Coach, take one for the team!

Me nor anyone else I know support the liberal cases in which the ACLU are or have been involved with. But rather making a point that the ACLU would be appropriate to take on a case such as this of discrimination.And as far as that goes you have no idea how far conservative this coach/teacher is!No one cares what your political views are, this is a issue of discrimination has NOTHING to do with this teacher's ability of teaching or job perfomance, or any misconduct at WJMS this is all about the softball team and the mad angry parents retaliating!Coach took a lot for the team did more for our girls than any other person in Jackson County!Your daughter must have been benched a few games or maybe a former player, because you certainly are going for the throat here. I have known this teacher for years, her entire life has been nothing but a life of abstinence. Abstaining from immoral conduct or questionable behavior throughout adolesence into adulthood.She is the type of person you desire your kids to grow up and be like.Always puts herself last in every situation and continues to take the high road no matter what.Anyone who knows her loves her and respects her for the respect she has for herself and others.

People who speak without knowledge of what they are speaking about are fools. I dont know details of this allegation but I do know the teacher in ? and hav for about 14 years. She is a good loving person. She has REAL feelings which few of you are considering. We must remember NONE of us are above making bad choices and sin is sin. Okay, first of all the paper says investigation, which is simply a form of inquiry for any of you "nitwits" out there that aren't familiar with the term "Investigation". So just because this teacher resigned is not an admission of guilt! It pretty much means that she was bullied into resigning so the school could not be held liable for anything later, plain and simple. This teacher happens to be one of my very close friends. I've read all of these "Nameless" comments and its fair to say that most of you, are pretty miserable human beings who are inept and lame to say the least. What's the matter, Mommy and Daddy didn't give you enough attention when you were younger? You sit here and get your jolly's off of a blog about someone and or something that you know nothing about! What the hell is wrong with you people? Did it ever occur to any of you the effect that these baseless accusations are having on this teacher and her family? This is a good and respectable family who I proudly call my own. We should offer this teacher and her family solace, after all he who is without sin, cast the first stone!

I hate to think how hard this has to be for her and her family. I'd also consider her a good friend. Although I have NO IDEA what is going on, I would have to say I can't imagine it being true. My heart goes out to my friend and all those that this has hurt.

I can't agree more. This was sick. I don't understand how people commented on the vandalism article more than they commented on this. This coach/ teacher was a good person but in my opinion what she did was wrong. I believe she is going to get NAILED by the state of GA. It is only a matter of time.

What we have here is a disaster of a softball season toward this female coach, nonsense a baseball or football coach would have never faced. For starters, at the Breast Cancer charity event over $200 was taken which was the 2nd time money had went missing......coach had to shut the booster club down completely, that's right NO concession stand due to money and things in the concession being taken! Oh, then there was the game where I saw a father get in the coach's face and thought he was going to hit her. This coach was ripped up one side and down the other before and after every game.

The most interesting part is the parent also a county office employee who has spearheaded this thing telling everyone in the county the details of this investigation. Isn't there employee confidentiality still to be upheld here? Instead not only deeply involved in this investigation she also makes phone calls from the county office the day the teacher resigns telling people, "hey guess what happened today". Is that appropriate behavior as an employee of the county to be defaming, gossiping, discriminating, and accusing another employee or former employee of the county under investigation?I am outraged at the behavior of this county and how uneducated the employees are of ones civil rights.

You should've researched a little more before you made your NAILED comment.

To all those people out there making these comments.
I knew the teacher who is being investigated. Not only did she teach my brothers but she taught me for 2 years as well. She was a great teacher.
But no matter how good of a teacher or person she is if evidence was found that she did do this, then it is not a waste of tax payers money or the ignorance of jackson county, IT IS THE LAW that she be investigated. People often forget that there are consequences for doing bad things. I think instead of all of you people worrying about the poor little softball team left all alone, complaining about who to blame and criticizing Jackson County, you should realize that this is an ongoing investigation and that no one really knows for sure what is going on. So I suggest all of you quit spouting off about irrelevant things and sit back and see what happens. You will come off less stupid.

It is protocal for a formal investigation to take place when accusations of this nature are made.All of the facts have to be gathered and presented to prove guilt.After hearing the talk in the county and reading these comments the common denominator here is softball, which makes me question is this about revenge?This teacher taught my children and my wife and I could not have asked for a better teacher and what we felt was a positive upstanding role model whose medt they could relate to because she was a young teacher.The children and the parents knew what this teacher stood for and represented nothing but upstanding ethics and morals.I hope that everyone commenting will take a breath and consider this is someone's life and a students life let the investigators do their work.

Lets all be honest here, none of us know anything more than the next person does which is why there is an investigation. I have known this teacher for years, taught both of my daughters and yes one of them even played softball for her during this time frame. I always found her to be an outstanding person who cared about her profession and the students. Could this be true, yes it could be and if it is it will be a tremendous blow for the school, softball team but most importantly the people involved. Please remember that there are more lives touched by this than just the teacher and student. Maybe we should worry about our own homes and family right now instead of casting stones at others. Remember we are all so much smarter when we know the actual answers.

Parents have now ran off the female coach at Oconee County as of 1/7/2010, after 2 seasons. Former coach played and coached at UGA, the experience didn't matter she was a female not liked in another small town. This former coach here of JCCHS played in college as well, again a few parents didn't want it her in and forced her out. She was bullied by the JC BOE to resign she WAS NOT FIRED.......again only proves they only had accusations and nothing more. These softball parents are extremists and need to realize reality is 98% of these kids will not continue sports beyond high school.

Just to clarify, I live in a large neighborhood in Jackson Co where we have a neighborhood pool. My question is do I need to contact JCSO and the JC BOE and go ahead and start alleging "inappropriate relationships" because teachers, county employees, and students are all at the pool at the same time during the summers. Or the next time I'm at the mall and see a student, or a teacher, or the next time I'm at the recreation dept field same thing?? This was the only way any of this could make sense for there to be an alleged relationship? All of these comments are disturbing as I have kids and may use these teenage girls to babysit my kids at any time. Some of these girls have went with me to the store, or to the gym and when that takes place the perception in this county is there is a relationship? Sickened to pay tax to this county and support one thing here. A private school will certainly be a top priority for my kids before they attend WJMS or JCCHS! Jackson Co schools is getting good at running off good teachers, she isn't the first one railroaded by this county because of nonsense.

Why are you girls or parents saying this stuff? Now one of you or your parents is saying that one of us left our ONE night, two day softball camp because they walked into an uncomfortable situation? That is not true, none of us left early we were in the middle of nowhere in Madison County! Our assistant coach organized this for us, her family owned this land. I don't get any of this, we were all there we know the truth and the truth will come out that you are lying about this!!! And to the JCCHS student the reason we are worried about our little softball team is because if you read the story headline it reads, "former coach" so it's all about the softball team and where all of this is coming from!

Thank you to the people who have shown your love and support to this family. I grew up with this family going on vacations with them as did our other friends in school.One thing that has always stood out about this family is their closeness. Anytime we ate at their house growing up we sat at the kitchen table, everyone eating at the same time together and they continue that tradition to this day.This friend of mine whom you label a predator finds her comfort in spending time with her family, or as simple as holding a door for an elderly person.This "former coach" this teacher has parents, a sister, a brother in law and a niece and nephew all of these people's hearts are broken. And all of these nasty name calling comments are making it so much more unbearable for everyone involved.As if softball season didn't tear this coach apart enough as bad as it was on her being pulled at in a thousand different directions now this, no one could've ever prepared for. This coach is not married and does not have children her friends knew of her children to be the softball team the girls she put all of her time and energy into making great players, teaching them commitment and dedication -those were her children a whole team of kids trying to mold them from good players to great players.She has never hurt anyone, but has been hurt a great deal.Everyone involved here has been hurt, this teacher, this student and their families. Wait on the truth, as someone else said you have bits and pieces making up things you do not have the facts. I cannot understand how the perception could be as such, but the truth is much more powerful. I pray God will touch your heart to pray for these families. What if these were your children names being tossed around as "student", "teacher", "coach" behind these titles are people who are loved just as you love your child, would this not devasate you? Personally watched my friend go from Teacher and Coach with 2 degrees loved by all to being stripped down to nothing until this is over. I don't know that these people will ever get over this. So sad.
