A minor winter storm Wednesday night and early Thursday morning that brought icy conditions to some areas of Jackson County led to 21 wrecks and five roads being closed. The roads are all open now.
“The road department started at 5 p.m. and worked through the night completing salting operation of county road,” EMS director Steve Nichols said. “Problems in Jackson County started around 7 p.m. last night with light icing reported around the county.”
In addition to the 21 wrecks, other incidents reported included five injuries due to falls or accidents and numerous weather related calls, Nichols said.
