ON NOVEMBER 24, the Jefferson Police Department arrested Cody Shules, 17; William Mitchell, 18; and Richard Dorian Mitchell, 39; for theft by taking (felony), criminal damage to property and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
All three were caught taking metal frame rollers from the Choo-Choo Build-It Mart, located at 274 Galilee Church Road, Jefferson. They gained access to the property by cutting a fence. They also had tools in their possession to remove the metal rollers from wooden frames. The incident was reported by a concerned citizen that noticed a suspicious vehicle coming and going from the business during the morning hours.
On Nov. 29, the JPD interviewed Rick Hensley, 42, and he confessed to taking A/C units from the American Legion in 2007, an A/C unit from a vacant house on Oak Lane and the A/C unit from The Auction Barn on Ga. Hwy. 11.
He implicated his former girlfriend, Terry Wright, 41, in assisting him in these thefts. She was interviewed on Nov. 29, and officials were able to clear her from the crimes. She did, however, give a voluntary statement concerning other thefts that Rick Hensley had committed.
She advised he was responsible for the A/C unit theft at Mamma’ Country Kitchen and the A/C units from the Choo-Choo Build-It Mart.
Arrest warrants have been issued for his arrest.
