Richard Crumley is the new athletic director at East Jackson Comprehensive High School following the resignation of Johnny Tucker who had served in that capacity.
Tucker will continue to serve as assistant athletic director and assistant principal at the school.
The moves come in the wake of a shake-up in the school's athletic program following a recent vandalism incident that involved several football players. Head football coach Frank Caputo resigned his coaching position in the aftermath of that ordeal, but continues in his teaching capacity at the school.

YOU CAN AGREE OR NOT I DON'T CARE.
I was always shocked at the rude and disrespectful behavior that Johnny Tucker demonstrated to everyone, with exception of high dollar board members. I would often watch with amazement at his blatantly rude interactions with active parents attending events to watch their children. Even with polite actions at school and no discipline issues throughout high school, he was often rude to my children and their friends.
I am glad to see that he is finally demonstrating some restraint in his longstanding tyranny.
Good luck Coach Crumley!!! If you maintain the same respect for the athletes and their families that you demonstrated when my children were students then you will have an awesome tenure.
I know that when working with teenagers, if you can maintain their belief that you care about them while you are redirecting their behavior/negative choices, then you are doing something right! Those traits are what carry on with young adults and the decisions they 'learn' to make.
Your post was very well written and to the point.
My God people these were teenagers that did this? They are almost adults make them be responsible for their actions NOW or they will never learn and you will be running to their rescue for the rest of your life and when you die they will end up in prison because Mama and Daddy were not alive to rescue them and make it all better.
IT'S TIME FOR SOME TOUGH LOVE
And you said something about everyone taking a lot of PRIDE in what GOD has given them and they would appreciate that others do the same when visiting our facility. Well if they can't respect others stuff then HOW do they expect someone else to respect them and their stuff.
You also said something about they RESPECT what God has given them? That statement goes against this whole mess? IF THEY HAD RESPECT FOR THEIR FELLOW MAN AND IF THEY DID RESPECT WHAT GOD HAD GIVEN THEM THEY WOULDN'T HAVE DONE NONE OF THIS!!!!!!! They would have just been happy to play the game.
You said it SO I'll call you on it: You said "we can't blame the teachers for everything" That's right SO why is Caputo being blamed for this?
You keep saying it takes more than just the teachers? BUT Caputo is the only one yall want to hang for what someone else did.
Lets look at this mess a different way. Lets say after a win some of the players go out to celebrate and they get drunk and rob a store shooting and killing the owner of that store. Would the coach be put on trial for murder and armed robbery? If he didn't buy the gun they used, OR buy them the beer they got drunk on???????????????????????????????
The way some of you think you would say yes it would be the coaches fault because they didn't teach them not to rob someone AND some of you will say my kids know better than to rob and kill someone?
SO I guess in some of you peoples minds it's wrong to rob and kill but it must be Ok to commit vandalism.
So glad for Coach Crumley, respectful man! While folks are resigning or whatever, they need to take Coach Rainey with them also,he has cussed and slung bats long enough!
Jackson County public schools really need to take a look at their staff!!!! elementary to high school!
TO BE A WITCH HUNT,& I CAN TELL YOU COACH C, IS NOT THAT PERSON. MY BOYS PLAYED FOR HIM & WE HAVE THE UPMOST RESPECT FOR HIM & HIS WONDERFUL FAMILY. IM THROUGH WITH ALL OF THIS, IT IS BAD........
Students are first and foremost a product of their families. Take a look around Jackson County; pay particular attention to the students who attend schools. At most of the high schools, one can't find a parking space on a Friday night; hundreds of parents attend football games. However, visit that same parking lot on the night of a parent open house or any other academic activity; one can typically park in the front of the school because the parking lot is typically empty. The same people who will attend athletic events will not bother to come and invest in their child's most critical part of high school, earning a diploma. As a parent, what importance are you placing on education, and what morals and values are you teaching in your home?
Student athletes are a product of their coaches. I was a student-athlete. I NEVER had a coach cuss at me. Perhaps it is because I am a female. I would like to think it is because I had coaches who treated me exactly as they would treat their own children. Thus, I was a good product of my coaches. It irritates me that people have come to accept some of the coaching tactics that are being used, especially from adults who are required to follow a code of ethics. Many coaches in this community receive a very nice paycheck. They do put in countless hours with the athletes and many of them dedicate time away from their families to spend with their players. However, there are many teachers who do the same, and those teachers make a lot less than those coaches. Where does this place our priorities as a society?
What is to be gained from this entire situation? Hopefully, all people in this community will voice their concerns about how this future generation will develop character. It is my belief that parents must be the first to step up to the challenge. Teach your children by example. Delete the " Do as I say, not as I do" from your vocabulary. Parents need to involved in more than Friday night football games and Thursday afternoon softball. Ask your child about school. Do you know what they learned from that social studies or math teacher today? Or is your primary concern whether or not they will reserve a spot in the starting line-up? Secondly, schools should be held accountable. After all, they spend far more time with children than parents typically do. Demand the best for your child! However, save yourself some time and go directly to the source with questions or concerns. It is easy to simply read what we see in print and believe it. As an intelligent society, we should conduct our own research and verify that any editor is not making up a story just to increase the profit. Lastly, if what this paper reports as truth is indeed true, I am appalled with the actions of Coach Caputo. However, I must ask how many parents knew of such treatment of their children and allowed those tactics to be used? Where were you to protect your child? Please do not respond with, "We never knew." I ask you, why not?
In closing, I would remind people that there are typically three sides to a story, "Person A's side, Person B's side, and the truth." Unfortunately, so many times we fail to hear the truth. Perhaps we will teach our children to discover the truth before choosing a side.
1) Caputo is a good person and a good coach with unique style that would have produced more success.
2) The attitudes and the immaturity that the EJ players displayed is not Caputo's fault or the fault of the coaches...it is the fault of the immature students and their parents. >>flame away parents
Sincerely,
SL7
Coach Caputo went above and beyond his teaching and coaching duties. He didn't drive a school bus SO he didn't have to make sure YOUR KIDS made it to school? THAT WAS YOUR JOB. AND he didn't have to make sure YOUR kids had lunch THAT WAS YOUR JOB and it wasn't his job to instill morals and values in your kids THAT WAS YOUR JOB. SO PARENTS YOU FAILED 3 TIMES RIGHT HERE so who's fault was this? THAT'S RIGHT you THE PARENTS.
you are so ignorant. Substitute teachers are no substitutes for educators. While there are many great subs out there, there are also many that are warm bodies. It's funny that the people who get on here and blast the public education system still send their kids to school to be someone else's problem. If you really have so many issues with public school, then why don't you homeschool your kids? oh wait, you would probably give that up after a month because you'd realize what teaching entails and you would have to be home with your kids and put up with them. Also, Instead of criticizing the schools, why don't you get involved in one.
Furthermore, the GA education system is not failing. That is a myth the government makes up to keep teachers down and to cover up the fact that America is failing our kids, not teachers. America outsources jobs, America creates useless standardized tests, America doesn't have space for the highly educated. The economy is failing, not schools.
Also since you are a teacher I would like to ask your opinion about the whole statement that was made about After a teacher teaches 10 years to just get rid of them? That way the school system doesn't have to pay ANY retirement?
BY THE WAY YOU THINK Lets say 8 years after someone gets out of school if they get caught robbing a bank is that because his teachers failed him too?
