Fannin Co. 28, JCCHS 14: Big plays not enough to carry Panthers past Fannin

Kyle Daniel and Michael Lewis connected for a 49-yard score and Kelly Moates returned a fumble for a 39-yard touchdown, but Jackson County (2-1) still fell to Fannin County 28-14 Friday in Blue Ridge.

The Panthers must rebound quickly to prepare for new rival East Jackson (1-2) next Friday in Jackson County’s subregion opener. This is the first meeting between the two schools.

Lewis finished with 81 yards receiving Friday, with over half of that coming via the touchdown toss from Daniel.

Austin McDonald, who rushed for a combined 273 yards in the first two games, was held well below 100 yards of total offense.

This was Jackson County's region cross-over game, so the loss doesn't count in the 8-AA South standings.
