Jefferson bounced back from its first region defeat and awaits another rivalry game.
The Dragons (10-5-1, 4-1), who fell to no. 3 North Oconee last Thursday, beat Oglethorpe County 8-3 Tuesday and will play Jackson County (5-1-2, 4-1) Thursday at home. The teams are tied for second in the south subregion of 8-AA.
The game starts at 5:55 p.m.
Jefferson beat its other geographical rival, East Jackson, 13-1 on Aug. 31.
In the win over Oglethorpe County, Jefferson broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
At the plate, Ashley Boyd went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Cason Anderson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Other offensive leaders were Kasey McDonald (2-for-3, RBI, three runs), Paige Pate (2-for-3, RBI, two runs) and Morgan McKinney (2-for-4). Catherine Knight also drove home a run.
Jefferson pounded out 13 hits in the win.
Kara Perry pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, one earned run and one walk while striking out eight.
Jefferson suffered its first region loss five days earlier, managing just two hits in a 10-1 loss to no. 3 North Oconee at home.
Anna Alexander went 1-for-2 and drove home the Dragon’s lone score. Anderson had Jefferson’s other hit.
North Oconee scored three times in the top of the first and broke the game open in the third and fourth innings with three and four runs respectively.
