I’m not a Glenn Beck fan. Too weepy. Too creepy. And yet one has to admire the Foxcaster’s ability to motivate his audience, as he did last Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. where he pulled over 100,000 people for what some attendees describe as a religious revival.
Like him or not, Beck and his cohorts have tapped into a deep vein of public discontent. A significant number of people believe the U.S. is a nation in decline. Beck’s ability to frame that frustration and articulate it makes him a leading voice on the political right.
Unlike some of his fellow Foxcasters, Beck is mostly non-partisan in his discussion of American politics and culture. He’s angry with both political parties, a sentiment shared by many of his followers.
And yet, Beck isn’t really blazing new trails with his call for the nation to turn to God for some kind of social-political-cultural redemption. That has been done over the centuries by other religious leaders, sometimes to the detriment of society. Once people begin to think others are wicked, all kinds of nastiness can happen.
And yet, it is these small, but organized protests that often determine the fate of history. Only a third of Colonists were rebels, yet they threw off the British yoke in what amounted to a civil war as they also fought their Loyalists neighbors.
The Obama Administration would be wise to heed the backlash of Beck and his kin. Although they often dismiss conservatives as either “greedy” or nutty, the Obama Administration would be foolish to think Beck is just another nut. He may be a nut, but he’s a damn smart one.
With the election of President Obama, the nation took a giant stride to the Left. Now, people are uneasy with that move and sense that Mr. Obama really doesn’t know what he’s doing.
He’s doing the opposite of what should be done, and many citizens know it. No new jobs can be created in such an unstable political-economic environment.
Better than most, Beck articulates that. He has no inherent power; Beck is just a TV broadcaster.
But he does have a soapbox and he knows how to use it, as last Saturday proved.
People are frustrated with America’s leaders. Washington has always been an “insider’s” town, but today more than ever before it is totally disconnected from reality.
If the Obama Administration doesn’t move back toward the political center, it will crash and burn between now and 2012. The upcoming November elections will be a watershed test of that.
But Republicans need not cheer too much. The same forces that are now slamming the Democratic Party will soon hit them as well.
America is in revolt, not with arms, but with the ballot box. And while many slam the political Right for its sometimes goofy world view, it takes a few articulate nuts at the political extremes to keep the political pendulum somewhere close to the center.

New Political Party.
Not Democrat, Not Republican, Not Independent.
It's called the "PISSED OFF PARTY. (or POP).
This party is dedicated to vote every incumbent out of office in the next elections.
If you're Democrat, vote Democrat.
Just don't vote for the incumbent.
If you're Republican, vote Republican.
Just don't vote for the incumbent.
We need to send a message to all politicians, that we're tired of their B.S.
If the country votes out all the incumbents, the new incoming politicians will get the message.
It's pretty simple. Nobody needs to change parties and let's face it, there's plenty of blame to spread around.
A few good politicians will lose their job but they probably have better retirement and insurance than 95% of the American public.
You've had to struggle for the last 5 years. Some of you have lost your job and may be working in some other sector just to feed your family.
I guarantee you, none of them will suffer like this country has.
If you like what's going on and think this is a bad idea, delete this.
But if you're fed up and think this is a good idea, then pass this E-mail on.
If you really think this has legs then a website and a blog could help get the word out
To All 535 voting members of the Legislature; it is now official you are ALL corrupt morons:
The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.
Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.
War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.
The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.
You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars
AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM?
IT'S NOT ABOUT THE NEED FOR GOOD HEALTH CARE, IT'S ABOUT TRUSTING THE GOVERNMENT TO RUN IT.
Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe it will end up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected' and their staff (they never read anything) will clue them in on how Americans feel.
P.S. The POP party's motto is; You shove it down our throats in 2009-we'll shove it up your A$$ in 2010!
For the future voters' information: Socialism has never worked wherever it's been tried. So why are we going down that road? Because someone is sleeping in the voter's booth. Higher taxes kill jobs. Government spending is out of control. Vote accordingly.
In other words get educated. The country is in trouble.
As far as anyone forcing anything on you...You are here and chose to speak, we didn't come to your place. Not only that, you forced your ugly statement on us because what you wrote has absolutely nothin; to do with nothin'. So, just who is it that is pushing stuff on others? Huh? Huh? Huh?
As for you Jerri Smith you don't even live here in Jackson County any more (Thank GOD) so quit stirring up crap around here. Can't you stir the crap up there where you live now or have they already figured you out also.
I think he has a fairly clear message politically. Technically he is a Libertarian anyway.
As for Jerri. His God, as a mormon, is the same one as anyone elses. Just so you know.
Just so you know.
I could point out silly things about everyone's religion, including my own, but what would that accomplish?
But, Mike, Washington "more than ever before it is totally disconnected from reality"....
PLEASE tell me you don't really believe that??? Good grief, have you forgotten, so soon, George W. Bush? I'm sorry, but there has never, ever, in the history of mankind, been anyone so disconnected from reality, period....
Oh, I am SO disappointed in your declaration. I never thought that you would have moments of "disconnection"....but I believe you just did. You just forgot eight years.
Man, take care....I got some Advil if you need it.....
What's wrong with the country is the erosion of morals and ethics and common decency! A gross lack of education, the near non-existence of the nuclear family, and the inability to speak up for what you believe while being sincere and as respectful as possible (depending upon the respect one is given to start with...)and saying it with your real name....I absolutely do not give much thought to the comments of someone who can't even give their FIRST name in a blog.....please....(I'm sorry if your mom actually named you "bigdragon"..I'm sure it was a knee-jerk reaction to something negative in her life, and she never should have done that).
And Michael, "Bush is a distant memory." TO WHOM????? You're trying to assert that he is not responsible for much of anything that is going on in the world today??? Let's pretend you're right...and, after 8 years of GWB, and those who've gone before, Obama has had TWO WHOLE YEARS to fix everything...and you're right, he hasn't done it.....so what, we impeach him for incompetence? (Oops, then we'd have to revisit all of history to impeach all the other incompetents before him, most of whom had a little more than 2 years, and a little less of a mess, to deal with....nevertheless, he has turned out to be a slack-ass, no-account, loser, right?) So, I've changed my mind, I'd rather McCain and Palin had won the race. Because I now believe that we'd be SO much better off by now, don't you think? I think they could have fixed all this crap by now....sheesh!
But I will tell you this too Michael, I think you need to stop blogging, and run for president. It seems to me that you have the answers, I mean, it's just so damn simple! So, 2012 man, Palin/McCarthy. Give me the bumper sticker,'cause I'm believing in you. And I don't quite understand why no one else has ever "just done it", y'know? I say, YOU GO MAN!!!!
Peace, for pete's sake....find some, offer some.
Through all your blabbering you are still blaming Bush. That is actually funny. The good news appears to be that this failed experiment we call President Obama may be brought under control in a couple of months,,,,, thanks to people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. I am an old Military man, I tried to back this president because I believe that's what your are supposed to do. I, however, soon realized that I just totally do not believe in him or the direction he is going. I don't think McCain and Palin would have had everything fixed by now, no one could. But I truly do not believe we would be any worse,, and I also do not believe we would be so far in debt. You only blame Bush for the latest debacles? It's been almost two years and things are still getting worse. It's kinda to the point to where they are not the latest anymore! Our current administration changes the rules and comes up with new ways to lie and people, much like yourself, refuse to admit it. They have shoved their agenda down our throat with super majority votes, and when the lost that they started talking about the "deem and pass", I believe they call it, method. Just exactly where do you draw the line. As Doc Holiday said in Tombstone, "their hyprocicy knows no limits."
