While the Georgia High School Association forces the state’s football teams to wait to begin practice, the rules never say anything about how early on the first day the schools can start.
That is why the official start of JCCHS Panthers’ football practice is at 12:01 a.m., Friday, August 1.
Coach Billy Kirk is taking advantage of every minute of practice he can get for the Panthers.
“As far as I know we are only one of three schools to pull this off,” said Kirk.
The Midnight Madness Practice officially starts at one minute past midnight and is scheduled until 3 a.m. The players also will be having a lock-in at the field house for the rest of the night.
The early practice is an effort to prepare the team for the coming season in region division 8-AAA.
