Election set Tuesday

Tuesday, July 20. 2010
Voters will go to the polls today to decide a slew of state elections, including a hot race for the District 47 State Senate seat.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The State Senate District 47 seat that covers Jackson County is a higlight race. On the ballot are: Kelley Gary, Shane Coley, Doug Bower and Frank Ginn, all Republicans, and Tim Riley, a Democrat.

In the BOE District 5 race, Steven Bryant and Randall Skelton are on the ballot. Incumbent Jill McEver is not seeking re-election.

In the State Senate District 49 seat that covers a portion of Jackson County, Butch Miller and Jimmy Norman, both Republicans, qualified.

In addition, there are races for governor and other state offices also on the ballot.

I totally agree with the commnets about the quality of answers from the candidates. I also wonder if anybody finds it interesting that Skelton's daughter plays bball and perhaps he and other BOE members got together and hired the part tme coach. Now he wants us to vote for him when I wonder, was he part of the team parents that cried/whined to Cronic that they would go to Jefferson and lay ball. Also Bryant was a former BOE member until he and Wilbanks determined that he did not live in the district. Yu got to be kidding me. What is even scarier that the new chairperson could be Cronic who indicated during the debates he wold only serve one term. I'm just sayin
