Storms moved through Jackson County Tuesday night causing damage through one third of the northern part of the county. The damage was mostly confined to the Plainview community, according to EMS director Steve Nichols.
During the storm, damaged was reported to six structures that had wind damage, two barns and three single family structures, as well as at the fire station in Plainview.

Tues. storms knock trees down, power out
Six roads were closed due to trees and power lines down and numerous power outages were reported with approximately 3,000 impacted. Numerous trees were also reported down.
The phone system service was put out and all 911 lines and administrative phones were down in the 911 communications center coupled with loss of most of the radio communication in public safety. The outage was due to a substation failure for Windstream after a tree fell across the power lines supply at that station. Complete service was restored to the center with partial service restored within 20 minutes of the outage.
All roadways were cleared and reopened Wednesday and power was restored. No injuries were reported.

Bravo to Jackson EMC for their response to restore power to that many people so quickly.
