A Jackson County man killed two young children before shooting himself Monday afternoon.
Murder-suicide has been ruled in the death of Keith Jerome Gresham, 36, and two children, ages 4 and 7. Gresham apparently shot himself after killing the two children. Gresham was found inside a vehicle in a secluded area off of Old Woods Bridge Road, a dirt road between Maysville and Jefferson.
Family members became concerned Monday after receiving text messages from Gresham.
Investigator David Cochran with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said family members went to Old Woods Bridge Road because it’s an area where Gresham went.
“He frequented this area a lot,” Cochran said.
Gresham was found inside a vehicle on the road and the two children were outside the car.
Law enforcement officers believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Gresham and the mother of the children. Both children had Gresham’s last name but only the youngest was his biological child.
“Apparently Keith Gresham and the children’s mother were in an ongoing domestic dispute,” Cochran said. “She had filed a temporary protective order against him with courts. He had been angry over this. That is what we think is the motive of this.”

To the family: you will never make sense of this but thank God for the few years you were blessed to have these children in your loving arms.
Deepest regrets.
Online Athens reports that the killer was scheduled to be in Jackson Superior Court Monday afternoon for violating probation. He had also been arrested in Oglethorpe County for a felony crime while he was on probation in Jackson County. Why wasn't he in jail in Jackson County for violating probation???
#1 DON'T ever tell me or anyone else to "shut up". If you can't be respectful then don't comment. #2 Don't call me or anyone else and "idiot" for commenting about our friend. Obviously you didn't know Keith as well as you think you did b/c he was FAR from a "coward". I am speaking about a VERY special person that has ALWAYS been there for me and my children no matter what i needed. I talked to this man one week prior to this and had a GREAT conversation. No matter what happened that day Keith was a GREAT man and there is nobody that will ever change my oppion of him. I will not sit here and try to change your mind nor will i call you names Benjamin. What i will say is "Keith and the boys you will always be missed and loved very much.R.I.P
Also, the mother of these children will pay for this for the rest of her life. She did no better than he did. She played the system when it worked for her and then allowed him to take the kids anyways. If folks dont learn soon not to make more children than you can care for or stay married to the father of the children then STOP HAVING THEM.!
But that's just my opinion
WRONG= not in accordance with what is morally right or good.
Caring Cousin
You might want to do a web search of the 10 commandments. Killing is listed before adultery
#6 thou shalt not kill
#7 thou shalt not commit adultery
my prayers go out to both families.
Takeanotherlook get real and stop trying to play him as a victim !
Anyone notice how many women feel for poor Keith? Your not helping his cause at all and frankly you better pray for your friends soul which is going to be in a not so fun place for eternity.
God will bless this murderer (?) I think not.
Pass judgement, one does not have to pass judgement on this idiot, he freaking killed his children. If that has to be explained why it is wrong, so wrong that there is no reason for it, jusitification or forgiveness.
Tell me you people who speak out in support of this "Daddy of the Year" candidate are frigging joking. You can't, you just can't be that damn shallow!
Had he not killed himself he would have deserved to be taken to a place of execution and the deed performed by the state. At the point in which he pulled that trigger he had no worth what so ever to this world. Good ridence and I care not if God has mercy on his soul. He had no freaking soul. A monster is a monster is a monster.
God Bless the souls of those innocent children.
Sometimes the T.P.O. causes more harm than good, as it may have in this case. Fathers are discriminated against in all divorce cases. They almost never get custody and visitation is very limited. Put yourself in the typical father's place. It is incredibly stressful.
I certainly can't see why this man killed his children but perhaps our system needs more help in counseling, etc. Tragedies like this, if they can be avoided, are worth the effort.
OKAY? THANKS.
MY BABIES ARE IN HEAVEN RESTING ABOVE US , HAPPYS PLACE ON THIS EARTH!!!!!!!!!
DADDY I LOVE YOU.
