The baseball Eagles of East Jackson Comprehensive High School are off to the best start in their short school history, going 2-0 to start their 2010 campaign.
Up next is a Saturday doubleheader against the Osborne Cardinals and the Jackson County Panthers at JCCHS.
The first pitch against Osborne is scheduled for 3 p.m. Game time against Jackson County is scheduled for 5 p.m.
West Hall
The Eagles opened up their season last Thursday by hosting the West Hall Spartans.
The Spartans got off to a hot start, putting three runs on the board in the top of the first. The Eagles answered by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, then adding three more in the bottom of the second to take a 5-3 lead.
The lead changed several times over the next four innings, but East Jackson powered its way to victory with the help of a home run from Sam Williamson and a game-winning RBI from John Robinson as the Eagles won their season opener 8-5.
It was the first win in a season opener for the Eagles in their three-year history.
