It’s been a strong start to the season for the Jackson County soccer teams, with both the boys and girls recording wins over Jefferson in their season-openers last week after matches with East Jackson were postponed due to rain.
Jackson County will travel to Madison on Friday for area matches against Morgan County.
The girls are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., with the boys’ match slated for 7:30 p.m.
Jefferson
The Lady Panthers opened up their season last Wednesday against Jefferson. Jackson County came away with a victory, outscoring the Lady Dragons 1-0 for the win.
Janette Gee scored the lone goal for the Lady Panthers.
Meanwhile, the boys made it a sweep for Jackson County over Jefferson on the day, as they won 5-1 over the Dragons. Christian Sanchez scored two goals and had two assists. Miguel Guereca scored two goals. Leo Yang scored one. Alex Garcia led the defense with a strong performance.
Walnut Grove
Up next was a trip to Walnut Grove. The Lady Panthers came away with a 2-2 tie, with Katie Rodriguez scoring two goals while Gabbi Kastner turned in a strong game performance.
The boys recorded their first loss of the season against Walnut Grove, falling 6-0.
