Jackson County officials expect to announce the location of a new industry to Braselton in the near future.
Shane Short, president of the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce, told the Industrial Development Authority Friday that he expects “an announcement very soon” in the Duke building in Braselton.
Duke Realty has a vacant 550,000 square-foot building on Jesse Cronic Road, at its “Park 85 at Braselton” development.
Progressive Lighting and Mitsubishi also share a building in the industrial park located on Braselton Parkway in Jackson County.
Short would not reveal the name of the company because he said it was still “working on the numbers,” but he said the “assembly/distribution” facility would provide about 100 jobs and occupy about a half million square feet of space.
That possibility is but one of several factors that cause local officials, in spite of the poor economy, to remain optimistic about the county’s ability to attract new business and industry.
