While all eyes of late have been on Jefferson High School’s sports programs as of late, the programs at Jefferson Middle School have had a pretty stellar year as well.
In football, JMS went undefeated, winning the region championship, with the team led by coaches Chad Cheatham, Jesse Fowler, Brandon Vinson, Keith Ramey, Montrae Riley, and Brian Holcombe.
The middle school cross country program was also successful. Both the boys and girls teams, coached by Lori Alexander and Mark Mullis, were region champs. For the boys, Kyle Kashuba was the boys’ individual region champ, while Reese Bowles was the girls’ individual region champ.
Coaches Wendy Buffington and Sarah Mixon led the JMS volleyball team to the region championship. The middle school softball team, coached by Stacey Anderson and Jessica Swancey, was the region runner-up, going 9-2 in the regular season.
The JMS cheerleading squad, coached by Christy Potts and LeAndra Vaughn, went undefeated in all competitions.
