Sales taxes continue decline
Sales tax revenue in Jackson County from August sales was down 15 percent from the year before, according to county officials.
The county took in $398,800 in sales taxes on the month, down from $469,800 in 2008.
On a year-to-date basis, the county is running $563,400 behind last year, a 14.5 percent decline.
If current trends continue, the county is expected to come in below its amended budget for sales tax revenues by $404,300 at the end of the year.

The county just set the millage rate without it going up this year.
