The Middle Oconee River near Arcade is expected to crest Tuesday at 22', a "moderate" flood stage.
Early Tuesday morning, the river was at 20.5'. Flood stage is 16' and the record stage is 25.4'.
Although the river is expected to go down Wednesday, heave rains are now forcast which could could increase flooding during the day.
Some areas of Jackson County received 5" of rain Monday, creating flooding conditions in the streets. A number of wrecks were also reported Monday.
Anyone with flood damage is asked to call the EMA office at 706-367-5202 so staff can take photos and do assessments on the property.
