Two residential fires were reported in Jackson County during the past week.
On September 9, units from North Jackson, West Jackson and the Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments responded to a reported structure fire at 27 Margie Court. The residence was vacant at the time of the fire.
Upon arrival, units found a single story residence with fire showing through the roof. The fire was quickly contained with most damage confined to the attic area.
The entire structure sustained smoke and water damage. Area residents reported the house was struck by lightening. There was a thunderstorm in the area at the time of the fire.
The North Jackson Fire Department is investigating.
Shortly after this dispatch, a second call was received to 2075 Jackson Trail Road to a reported residential fire.
Jackson Trail, Jefferson, and the Jackson County CI fire departments responded. Upon arrival, units found a 10X10 out building fully involved.
This fire also was reported as a lightning strike. The fire is under investigation by the Jackson Trail Fire Department and the structure was a total loss.
No injuries were reported, the owner was at home during the fire.
