LaRocque hired in Pendergrass
The City of Pendergrass has reportedly hired former Jefferson police investigator Robert LaRocque as the town’s new police chief to replace Rob Russell.
LaRocque was working in Pendergrass on Thursday, but exactly when he was hired isn’t clear. The Pendergrass City Council has not held a legal public meeting over the past week, although some unverified reports indicate the council met in secret to hire LaRocque.
LaRocque’s hiring comes amid turmoil in Pendergrass as the GBI investigates the possible misuse of city funds and the city’s court comes under a state review.
In addition, the town has been sued by The Jackson Herald newspaper over secret meetings and the refusal to turn over public records.
There is also a movement in the town by a large group of citizens to recall Mayor Monk Tolbert.

First of all I wish the new Chief all the luck in the world. He will need all the luck he can get. I have a few questions here. The article says former Jefferson Investigator. Was he still working there or what? Also, if the council did not have a legal meeting is this okay? I thought the council had to vote a police chief in? Mr. Buffington im sure you are already looking into this.

this guy still has a pending investigation with post how can he be hired at an agency as chief if that case has not been cleared. what is going on over there is anyone paying attention to this. mike do an open records request on the internal investigation this guy has had at jefferson as well as his post record you will be suprised at what you will find. this guy wont be any better than rob russel it one thief out another one in

Thats nice this guy was asked to resign from Jefferson Police due to tampering with a witness in a cas against former Police Chief Darren Glenn. This can only get better things get worse and worse each day. I guess they dont want a credible police department that is respected by the citizens of the community. He has a great reputation from his many questionable narcotics cases he made in Jefferson. He cam from a previous Glenn administration to now start his own fiefdom be it may possible corrupt but we will see. These people can't learn a lesson for nothing good luck Pendergrass Police Your days might be numbered under his stellar administration.

I thought he was fired from Jefferson for tampering with a witness. Didn't Rob Russell and him work together at Jefferson at the same time? Boss Hogg just got a new Roscoe P. Coletrane. Good Luck with that you good 'ol boys!
