A man was injured in a work-related fire in Commerce last week and two other residential fires were reported.
On August 24, units from Commerce Fire, Rescue and Jackson County EMS responded to Beck Road in Commerce with a report of a person burned. A man had first degree “flash burns” to his arms and face which appeared to be from an electrical fire. The victim is a worker for Commerce utilities and was working on a pumping station on Beck Road when the incident occurred.
The man was transported to an Athens hospital in stable condition.
On August 19, units from Maysville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1209 Hardman Orchard Road in Maysville. Upon arrival, they found a detached garage well involved. No one was present at the time of the fire.
No cause has been determined, however, there was a thunderstorm in the area at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported and the building was a total loss.
On August 22, units from North Jackson, Plainview, and Jackson County Correctional Institute responded to a reported structure fire at 1190 Martin Road, Talmo. Upon arrival, units found smoke showing from singlewide mobile home.
The fire was contained to the room of origin with smoke and heat damage through out. The occupants were home at the time of the incident but were not injured.
