A Jefferson businessman was killed last week in a motorcycle accident in Colorado.
Mike Carron, owner of Mike’ Grill and Mike’s Down Under, died Sunday following a Saturday wreck.
According to a report in the Greeley (CO) Tribune, Carron was driving northbound around 1 p.m. Saturday on I-25 in the left lane when traffic in front of him slowed. Carron veered into the left shoulder and the motorcycle dropped to its right side to avoid hitting a car.
Carron was taken to Longmont United Hospital and then transferred to a Denver hospital.
He had reportedly been on his way to a motorcycle rally in South Dakota at the time of the wreck.
Carron was a popular, sometimes colorful, figure in Jefferson. If not at the restaurant, he could often be seen zipping around town on a motorcycle delivering food to call-in customers.
Carron was at times controversial, battling complaints from neighbors about too much noise from bands that played at his bar. The disputes were heard several times before Jefferson City Council meetings.
He was known mostly, however, to customers for his outgoing personality.
“I first met Mike in 2006 when I moved to Jefferson,” said one typical comment on The Herald’s website this week, JacksonHeraldToday.com. “He was a kindred spirit with my husband and I, as we are bikers too. He always took time to chat and joke around with us and welcomed us to 'his place'.”
this very hard time!
Mike was larger than life. He was so honest and fun and
LOUD and more fun! I know that he will be sorely missed
by the whole family. My thoughts and prayers go out to
Pam, Anna, Nick and Afton. I know this is a difficult
if not unbearable time. May God give you peace. In
these situations, that is all we have.
I will always remember how kind Mike and Pam were to me
when I went through a difficult time. First financially
by giving me a job on Friday nights (a struggling single
mom) and then in other ways. They were both so kind to
me and I will always appreciate them very much.
I, too have lost two very close people in my life
in the last year. Just take one breath at a time.
My heart goes out to you. Hang on to the memories
and keep Mike alive through those. And there are so
many stories about him, that will keep you busy.
family. He always greeted us with a handshake and a
smile. Mike gave so much support for local artists.
He will be greatly missed.

more than once to be her employer. She loved his
chicken salad sandwiches and I think they got her
through high school. I will always be thankful for
him being there when she needed a ride home from school
or needed to talk about whatever. To Pam and Anna I can
not begin to image your pain. Mike was bigger than life.
I still remember the yellow roses he bought me as a
peace offering because he knew no matter what we were and always would be connected by my wonderful daugher and his niece.
My prayers are with Pam, Anna, Nick and Afton as they
find peace in God's love.
Mike will be missed. He is one of those irreplacable people that we encounter too infrequently. Any community is better to have people like Mike Carron. His wife, daughter, family, and friends remain in my thoughts and prayers.
or more, she felt to him as a second dad. He always made it
a point to come and talk and make jokes and wisecracks
everytime I visited. I pray that his wife and daughter,
his family, friends and all the staff that works
at Mike's will find comfort through God's amazing grace.
Always look at the Master for peace when you are in need,
I promise, he will never let you down.
God Bless
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family, loved ones, and staff as they try to cope with this tragic loss.
Mike will be missed.
Mike was a strong presence in life. Over the next days and weeks as we discuss his life and character one might hear someone say he was very friendly. He was that. One might also hear it muttered that he was tough. He was. He demanded alot of people and somehow through example provided them an avenue to be the best they could be. He also set the bar very high for himself. Mike was a staunch supporter of law enforcement, an avid motorcyclist and a big advocate for the Community Anti-Drug Program.
Most of all I would want everyone to know this about my friend. He was good. He was a good man. A true friend who told it like it was, like it or not. He was not the kind of man to run from a fight I admit as he was spirited, that is for sure. I can say this though, if you were on the side of right and Mike knew it, he would stand with you and that I guarentee. If Mike Carron found your wallet you would certainly get it back with every dollar in it, if you were in need, he would help you and if you needed to be told you were wrong, he would do that too.
God please bless the Carron family and the memory of my friend Mike.

God bless.
For the last several years I would occasionally order my lunch from Mike's grill and he always delivered it to my office. (I thought it was neat that he actually made the deliveries himself! He was so friendly, thankful and committed to his customers). In March we learned that our plant was closing and when I ordered lunch a few days later he delivered it but refused to take my money. He said, "Ya'll got some bad news here recently and I want to buy your lunch." He refused to take any money.
He did not have to do that but I think it is a perfect example of the kind, caring soul that he was.
Mike, we miss you already...but we know your in a better place. Thank you for blessing us with your wonderful spirit.
I lost track of Mike as many of us did when we went off to college, got married and moved from Greenville.
Ironically, I just rediscovered both Mike and Nick about three weeks ago via Facebook. I discovered he was in Jefferson, GA not too far from me in Canton, GA. I told my brothers about finding Mike and Nick. They wanted to see if we could all get together at Mike's Place for a beer. Just good old friends getting back in touch after too many years...
And now Mike's gone. Last night I listened to an old football story from my brother about Mike, how much bigger Mike was that all of the other kids... An I think how much bigger Mike became to many of us. I had not seen Mike in 38 years. Funny, that does not seem to matter now. I will always count his as my friend.
God bless Mike and his family and may the family remember, when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
See ya later Mike...
Our prayers and love go out to all the people who loved and knew Mike. To his wife and daughter - any time you need help you only have to call. Jefferson has definetly lost one of a kind.
The Savadge Family
Mike gave my daughter Jessica, her first job. Even though she did not last more than one night he never let that come between friends.
I was behind Mike a little over 2 weeks ago and he was on his bike. His long hair under his helmet and jeans and flip flops. Mike was for sure one of a kind.
We have lost him down here in Jefferson, but the streets in heaven are blessed to have him riding down them now.
GOD BLESS YOU MIKE !
and my prayers go out to the entire Carron family.
Very sorry for your loss. Mike was a good person and he did give a lot of people opportunities with bands. My son played there many times and for the most part all was well. He will be missed, he loved his place. I hope it continues to thrive.
May God Bless and Keep You.
