Two Pendergrass men were killed Thursday night in a head-on wreck on Holly Springs Road in Jackson County.
Both of the drivers, Brett Johnson, 36, and Alan Reed, 27, were killed in the wreck. Reed was reportedly on the wrong side of the road when he collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Johnson. Both men were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by rescue units from Plainview and North Jackson fire departments and by Jackson County EMS personnel.
One patient was airlifted to Gwinnett Medical Center and the other transported to Northeast Medical Center. Both died at the hospital.
There were no other people in the vehicles at the time of the wreck.

sorry for your loss and just letting ya'll know that all of you are in our prayers.
As a friend of the family, we appreciate your care and concern toward Brett and his family. Just knowing that someone caring was there to help him in this tragic time is uplifting. We don't know why Mr. Allen did not get back on his side of the road and we may never know. As far as wanting to know the causes of death for both men involved, we feel that it may not be appropriate to post that information on here as it personal and painful. Maybe in time the information will transcend to you through friends of friends of the family. Again, thank you for staying with Brett in that awful time. We appreciate your care and concern. Thank you for the prayers.
I am Allen's mom and I thought maybe you could answer my questions but I see you have just as many questions. Allen is not the type of person to intentionally hurt anyone and had he lived he would not have been able to live with himself knowing he took someone elses life. According to the police report Allen tried to avoid the collision but could not. No one can make me believe my son intentionally went out that day to take another life. I know everyone has their opinions but Allen was a very loving, gentle, and giving person. My life changed that day and a part of me died there with him but I will see him again. I ask anyone that does not know Allen reserve judgement for we are not to judge unless we want to be judged. My heart goes out to the Johnson family and I want them to know how truly sorry I am.
