Commissioner Tom Crow is getting calls from taxpayers concerned about recent reappraisals being based on property values when the economy was in better shape.
“It is their opinion that the tax appraisers are using figures from two years ago,” Crow said. “The values being sent out to them does not reflect the values on Jan. 1 of this year.”
Crow said this may lead to a large number of appeals which could cause problems for the commissioners. He suggested the BOC asked the appraisal staff to “check their numbers” and see if they reflect the current values.
