Robert Clark, 55, Commerce, was formally charged Thursday with the June 7 murder of his 6-year-old grandson, Michael Levigne in Commerce.
Clark was released from Atlanta Medical Center to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, which served warrants for murder, aggravated assault on a police officer aggravated assault and cruelty to children. He'd been in the hospital since the incident, recovering from the multiple gunshot wounds he received when police returned fire at the Troy Street, Commerce residence.
He is housed in the Hall County Jail, which has medical facilities.
Clark allegedly shot Levigne, who had just completed kindergarten at Commerce Primary School, in a fit of rage precipitated by a dropped watermelon. Police say he also shot his wife, Linda Dale Clark, 58, multiple times. She remains in stable but critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to Jackson County Major David Cochran.
The Sunday standoff at 228 Troy Street ended when police opened fire at Clark, who allegedly shot first at police who had surrounded the house.
And if you don't agree with this I DON'T CARE I'm sure this little 6 year old boy didn't want to die this way either? He had his whole life to look forward too and it was cut short because he dropped a watermelon?? How stupid can you get???
the uncle of the little boy the day this happened and he said
that he had talked to his mother around 11am and that she had
told him that the grandfather had been arguing over the water
melon all morning that he had ate the watermelon the night
before and said that the little boy and his brother ate it.
She could not make him understand that he was the one that
ate the watermelon. I just wanted you to know that it wasn't
over a dropped watermelon. The little boy actually had absolutley
nothing to do with the watermelon at all!! Please pray for
the grandmother her life has revolved around Michael
and his little brother and making sure they were happy and
had everything they needed. She is a good christian lady
who made sure she took both the boys to church and tried her best to teach them right and wrong and the love of God. She is still
a long way from recovering and that is nothing to the mental
scars this will leave with her. Michael and his brother were
her whole world!!
I understand that this was no way for little Michaels life to end and that he had his whole life ahead of him but evidently God wanted
him to come home and be with him. It is comforting to know
that he is sitting on Jesus lap and playing with the angels.
It is very puzzling as to what really was going on in the
grandfathers mind because he has always been very loving
and protective with both the boys. They have lived in their
home and have had custody of them for about 4 and a half years
now. No matter what God will see to it that he pays for
what he has done.
God lonely loans us these beautiful children . He is not happy with this man who destroyed that baby's life. All I can say is I am not judge or lawyer but GOD is and he will get him for what he has done.
