Three people have been arrested following a home invasion on Friday, June 13, at a South Jackson residence
Jerry English, 190 Keri Lane, Athens, awoke to a noise inside his home and saw a flashlight being turn on and off in the hallway. He then saw a figure in the doorway of his bedroom and fired several shots from a .38 revolver.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and found a broken basement window and a open door and called for a K-9 unit from Lee Arrendale State prison.. The K-9 unit tracked the suspect to 140 Keri Lane. The suspect was identified and later arrested.
Terrell Ray Mahone, 17, 140 Keri Lane, Athens, was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by an underage person and criminal trespass.
Two other suspects were also identified and charged after committing another armed robbery in Clarke County where they were arrested by Athens-Clarke police. Nicholas Dante Watkins, 19, 275 Colima Ave., Athens, was charged with the same violations as Mahone. A 15-year-old male juvenile of Athens was also charged.
Mahone is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond. Watkins is still being held in the Clarke County Jail, and the juvenile is being held in the youth detention center in Gainesville.
