A Jefferson man was arrested after allegedly firing shots at a Jefferson residence on Monday and then being chased by officers. Jose Hernandez of Mayberry Lane has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. Other charges may be pending, according to police chief Joe Wirthman.
Officers were called to a location on Oak Lane and Peachtree Street Monday afternoon after a man reportedly pulled a gun and fired a shot. Officers arrived on the scene and chased the man by car for one block and then on foot.
Wirthman said officers surrounded the suspect’s residence on Mayberry Lane because it was believed he was inside the house. A short time later, Hernandez was spotted on the roof of another nearby home. He reportedly jumped off the house and after another foot chase, was apprehended.
Over a dozen area law enforcement units responded to the scene.
I'm sure JPD does some good but stories like this don't keep people from thinking they are a bunch of back woods Rednecks?
