A Nicholson woman was charged with simple battery after a dispute over how to cook hamburgers at a Hampton Creek Road, Commerce, residence, reportedly turned physical last week.
Shela Sharlyne Upadhyay, 37, was arrested for allegedly attacking the mother of her son’s pregnant girlfriend at the victim’s house. According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a responding deputy took statements from an 18-year-old woman, her mother (the victim), the victim’s daughter’s boyfriend (and father of her unborn child) and the accused (Upadhyay).
Upadhyay alleged that the victim threw a glass of Coke at her son during the dispute.
The boyfriend told the deputy “there had been a lot of tension since (the victim’s daughter) became pregnant.”
