Dear Editor:
Today was my first trip of the summer to the Jefferson City Public Pool. It will also be my last until a major cleanup is done.
LETTER: Says city pool facilities need cleaning
The pool itself appeared to not have been vacuumed; maybe the pool sees such a high volume that it’s hard to keep up. BUT then I attempted to use the woman’s restroom!
I will be contacting the Jackson County Health Department to report the restrooms of the public pool. Children run to the restroom barefoot from the pool. The flooring was covered in scum that was made of God only knows what. The toilets were covered in feces, urine, and matted toilet paper. The smell is not describable.
I was told the teenage/young adults employees were responsible for the bathrooms. I certainly wouldn’t want the job, but it appears that no one is checking up on these young people and the maintenance of the facility.
To all the parents who have your children in day camps and day cares that are carrying your children to the public pool; beware! There is disease in the bathroom and I can only pray there is a massive amount of chlorine in the pool!
