The Jackson County Republican Party had a coup at its convention Saturday when party members ousted longtime local GOP chairman David Oppenheimer and elected Ron Johnson of Hoschton as the group’s new leader. Johnson said the Jackson County GOP will have “a more local focus” in the coming months.
“We will focus on local elections,” Johnson said. “City, county and state elected officials who have ‘true’ Republican values will be supported by the Jackson County GOP. Those values are less government, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility, values that are missing in many governments.”
Johnson was a candidate in 2008 for chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.
Also elected Saturday for two year terms were: Michael Carrol, Hoschton, First Vice Chairman; Isaac Weathers, Braselton, Second Vice Chairman; Betty Martin, Jefferson, Treasurer; Lin Ring, Maysville, Secretary; and Cynthia Lindsay, Jefferson, Assistant Secretary.
Political rhetoric we voters hear constantly.
Until true Conservative principals and values are instituted, it's the SOS. Reference:2006 elections, nationwide..............
