A threatening phone call received by the Jackson County E-911 Wednesday morning is believed to be a "hoax." The phone call alleged a shooting had taken place at Jackson County Comprehensive High School, according to Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum.
"Jackson County Comprehensive High School students are all safe and are returning to class. At this point, GBI tells us, this appears to be a hoax," according to the Jackson County School System Facebook page.
JCCHS students were evacuated following the threatening phone call. East Jackson Comprehensive High School students were placed on lockdown, along with Jefferson City School System students.
An earlier version of this story and the story in the March 29 issue of The Jackson Herald incorrectly said the call was made to JCSS. The call was made to 9-1-1 dispatchers.
