A man deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at an Old Hoods Mill Road, Commerce, residence, told them over a speakerphone in a conversation with his son to get off his property or he would “shoot every one of them” last week. The suspect, Trance Whitfield, has felony warrants out of Madison County Sheriff’s Office, according to an incident report.
Whitfield sounded “very irate and unstable,” a deputy wrote. Although the suspect’s son said his father was in Panama City Beach, Fla., deputies checked the area behind the residence and located Whitfield’s vehicle. He also sounded out of breath on the phone and as if he was running in the woods, a deputy wrote.
